With Digital Smile Design, we plan your new smile at our dental practice in Küsnacht before the actual treatment begins. You first see the planned result as a digital simulation and then as a mock-up directly in your mouth. This lets you decide calmly whether and how you would like to change your smile.

What is Digital Smile Design?

Digital Smile Design (DSD) is a planning method in aesthetic dentistry. We create digital models of your teeth and your face and use them to define the shape, size, length and colour of the teeth. The aim is a smile that looks natural and suits your face.

An important part is the mock-up: a temporary simulation of your new smile that is placed directly in your mouth. This lets you experience the shape, length and effect of your future teeth before they are prepared or treated. Your teeth are not ground down for the mock-up, and it does not commit you to anything.

Who is Digital Smile Design suitable for?

Smile design often forms the basis for ceramic veneers. These are thin, natural-looking ceramic shells that match your face in colour, shape and translucency. A veneer smile is not a dental prosthesis, but a carefully planned design of your own smile. We work in a minimally invasive way: in many cases only a few tenths of a millimetre of enamel is removed, and with so-called no-prep veneers none at all. Personally planned in Küsnacht

Your smile design is personally planned and carried out by Dr. med. dent. S. Tanja Karamousli. She holds a Master of Science in Aesthetic-Reconstructive Dentistry and a Master of Science in Orthodontics from the Danube University Krems, is a Digital Smile Design provider and has been an Invisalign provider since 2009. Consultations are available in German, English, Greek and Serbo-Croatian.

Frequently asked questions

Will I see the result before treatment?

Yes. At your very first appointment, you see your planned smile as a digital simulation. We also place a mock-up that you can try on and assess in your own mouth.

Are my teeth ground down for the mock-up?

No. The mock-up is placed without grinding and does not commit you to anything. For any later veneer treatment, we also work in a minimally invasive way so that as much of your own tooth structure as possible is preserved.

How long does treatment take?

That depends on your individual treatment plan. We discuss the timeline with you during the consultation.

How much does Digital Smile Design cost?

The costs depend on which treatment is planned for you. We first analyse your situation and then discuss the costs openly with you. On request, you will receive a cost estimate.
